What AI Can Do for You Right Now, Not Years into the Future
Are you intimidated when you hear the word AI (artificial intelligence)? On today's episode, Jon talks with Stuart Sherman about why you should not be intimidated by AI. Stuart is the founder and CEO of IMC, the leader in artificial intelligence. Listen in and discover what you need to know about AI, what it can do for us right now and how we can actually use it to make our lives easier. "If there's a process that you're doing repeatedly, you should be looking to see if there's a piece of software that will do it for you." Jon Voigt: Welcome to Agile Living: The Entrepreneur's Journey, the show dedicated to discovering how entrepreneurs and digital leaders are doing more with less. I'm Jon Voigt, your host and CEO of Agility, and we're on a journey across the country to learn from top digital entrepreneurs on how to live a more agile, adaptable, and fulfilling life. Thank you for joining me today, and let's dive in.

AI-powered phone service developed by banks will judge you on the way you speak
Artificial Intelligence (AI) software that forms an opinion of people by the way they speak - in much the same way people do - is being developed by a UK finance firm. The language and vocabulary used by customers who ring in seeking help with their mortgage or savings accounts will be used to create a profile. The system, which is being backed by the Nationwide Building Society, will then tailor a computer generated conversation with the customer defined by their'voice personality'. Artificial Intelligence (AI) software that forms an opinion of people by the way they speak - in much the same way people do - is being developed by a UK finance firm. The AI system, developed by the company Scaled Insights, is already being used in partnership with hospitals in Leeds to help communicate with patients in the treatment of obesity and other issues.

Simple cell-like robots join together in large groups to transport objects
Scientists have succeeded in creating simple cell-like robots that join together in large groups, move in a coordinated fashion and transport objects. They are able to coordinate their movements, transport objects and even respond to light. Scientists call them'particle robots' but even their creators admit they share similarities with the'grey goo' that prompted a famous warning from the Prince of Wales. Grey goo is a hypothetical end-of-the-world scenario involving molecular nanotechnology in which self-replicating robots consume all biomass on Earth. Prince Charles says he utterly objects to the idea of people becoming 'part human, part machine'
From the perspective of critics, there are many reasons to be concerned about the rise of artificial intelligence. Billionaire inventor Elon Musk -- perhaps the world's most vocal AI antagonist -- has warned that the technology could become "an immortal dictator from which we would never escape." Several years before his death, Stephen Hawking, the renowned theoretical physicist, said artificial intelligence could bypass biological evolution, leaving humans unable to compete. Now Prince Charles, the 69-year-old heir to the British throne, has revealed another reason to fear AI. In an interview with GQ Magazine, Charles said he's deeply dismayed by the way artificial intelligence is beginning to change the way people interact with machines.
